  What does money represent to YOU ?

  for example does money represent to you power, love, joy and much more or does money represent to you feelings of worry, guilt, anger, sadness.. for myself i have always enjoyed living largely on little, and i can appreciate that the best things in life are free.

  having said that i am glad i have been fortunate and sensible enough with money to never have exsperienced the anxiety of debt.

  and it may sound silly but i dont think winning it big on the lottery would improve the quality of my life nor my family.

  One thing about this site that bothers me

  the constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.

  but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.

  one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.

  I understand the context of it-that most JWs are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more. But sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited. One poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'. They aren't conning people out of money. They're performing honest labor, to support themselves, or sometimes a family.

  My father was a custodian for the State university for over forty years. He wasn't able to be anything more than that, not just due to being a JW, but also due to other circumstances in life. But he worked hard at it, and supported his family. Not once did he bitch about the fact that he spent 8 hours a day cleaning up after college students. It was one of the few things I actually admired him for.

  Just my two cents.

  it seems every cong seems to have some guy who is 35 and never had a job or moved out of mom and dads basement.. i knew a guy who just hand out magazines at work so he would get eventually fired and could sleep in till noon everyday.

  of course his elder father though he was a real matyr cause he kept losing jobs for jehovah.

  i have an electrican friend who apprenticed some jw kid till he got his ticket and he quit him to pioneering.

  Do you think it's rude or disrespectful to be in the bathroom for any reason while the brother is praying?

  i had a publisher tell me this recently that she felt that it showed disrespectful to the brother up there giving the prayer, like you're ignoring him or something.

  what do you think?

  and if so, any bible scripture or watchtower or awake backing this idea up specifically?.

  Long-winded, self-indulgent prayers are rude. Especially when people have been holding their urine or bowel movements until the end of the meeting. Just wrap it the fuck up already.

  "The world is so bad!!"

  i am getting so sick of constantly hearing witnesses say "the world is getting so bad...etc...blah blah....etc...".

  yes, there are troubles in some parts of the world, but most of the ones whinging live in some of the most peaceful and fortunate countries (such as australia).

  the constant doom and gloom mentality actually shows a lack of respect for life itself!!!!

  Believing this is what gives meaning to their belief system. It serves two purposes:

  First, it enforces the idea that they have the truth, because they are the only ones living up to the standard of goodness that they themselves have set.

  And second, it justifies the mass genocide their God will commit in the future, and the delight that most of them derive from it.

  They will simply stop saying it from the platform but continue to pressure the active members to continue shunning without the announcement.

  Precisely. Most likely they will leave it up to congregation elders to enforce it, so the organization is protected. If nothing is printed publicly, they can simply argue that individuals chose on their own to do it.

  Trinitarians! Who is Jesus Christ's father the Holy Spirit or the Father?

  this is one question that trinitarians try to avoid because they have created a very embarrassing problem.

  the bible is very clear when the angel tells mary that holy spirit will overshadow her and she will become pregnant.

  the angel does not say the father will overshadow her but the holy spirit will and if the holy spirit is a person that would make him the father of jesus.

  i'm not one, but just caught the biography on tv.

  i happened to have met axel roses ( as he called himself by then) parents in a friend's neighborhood in indianna.

  when axel would come home for a visit in the midto late 80's police cars would always end up at the house.

  Bible Atrocities

  i really can't wrap my head around how people can still consider god loving with such atrocious biblical accounts such as, 1 samuel 15, (god ordering the slaughter of amelikite baby's and children) 2nd kings 2, forgot the verses (god sending bears to maul 42 children) and many others.have you ever asked a witness or anyone elsewhat they think about these accounts?

  what was their response?

  i'd love to ask one, but unfortunately i'm still physically in the cult and i wouldn't want to raise any suspicions.
